Burlington Hotels & Motels
Situated on the calming shores of Burlington Bay of Lake Ontario, Burlington, Ontario is the perfect place to get away from the hustle and bustle of nearby Toronto, just 50 km (31 mi) away. This small city is known for its abundance of greenspace and sandy shores that make the perfect jumping-off point for a variety of water sports. Enjoy the tranquility of Burlington by visiting the renowned Royal Botanical Gardens, taking a stroll along the beach or breathing in the fresh air on one of the many biking and walking trails. But Burlington isn’t just for relaxing—enjoy world-class shopping and dining in the downtown core or take in one of the many festivals, including Canada’s largest RibFest.
ORIENTATION
Burlington occupies the north shore of Burlington Bay, while the larger and more industrial city of Hamilton occupies the south shore. Because of their close proximity, Burlington is typically considered part of the greater Hamilton area. Both cities are an easy 45-minute drive south of Toronto via the 403 highway. While Burlington doesn’t have an airport of its own, both Toronto and Hamilton do, making it readily accessible to air travellers seeking accommodation in area hotels and motels.
DOWNTOWN
Burlington’s downtown core—situated on the lakefront—is the most vibrant part of town. This is where the best shopping and dining options are, and it’s also the most pedestrian-friendly part of the city, meaning you don’t need a car to explore the attractions in this area, including Spencer Smith Park and the Village Square shopping area. Likely the best accommodation option in this part of town is the opulent Watefront Hotel, an elegant six-storey that offers a prime location right next to the beach and the Brant Street Pier. Among the many amenities at this hotel, guests are treated to an indoor pool with hot tub, a fitness centre, a complimentary hot breakfast and free Wi-Fi. However, Burlington’s best downtown hotel is also among its priciest. Those who want the location without the price tag should head to the nearby Ascot Motel, which offers comfortable rooms at a prime lakefront location.
THE 403
For travellers who don’t feel the need to be in the centre of things, there are a number of hotel options that are conveniently located along the 403, the main highway that runs through Burlington. The junction between the 403 and Walker’s Line is a particularly popular place to stay, with a number of brand-name stores and restaurants providing the necessary amenities. The Admiral Inn, located just off Harvester Road, is a sophisticated family-run hotel that provides hotel rooms and suites at affordable rates. They have an on-site restaurant and provide a hot breakfast buffet in the morning to all guests.
NORTH & SOUTH BURLINGTON
Other spots to stay in Burlington include North Burlington, where a number of chain hotels offer easy access to the stunning Bronte Provincial Park, and South Burlington, where a variety of independent motels run along Plain Street East offering budget-friendly options to travellers.
